Beet Kvass

Fermentation Workshop

Lacto-fermentation is one of the oldest methods of fermentation, which has been gaining popularity recently because of the number of associated health benefits. As well as a general introduction into the health benefits.

This workshop will focus in on beet kvass as a traditional post sauna elixir. A simple and delicious drink that can be made at home with minimal fuss and equipment. Beet kvass is hailed as ‘the drink of athletes’. Originating in Eastern European it is enjoyed in saunas due to its probiotic and high nitrate content, aiding in the body’s detoxification, and simultaneously replenishing essential electrolytes.

Each ticket includes a demo and taster of beet kvass. Participants all take home a bottle of beet kvass and instructions on how to make this at home.

Rachel Booth

Award winning maker of small batch krauts, kimchis and water kefir, Rachel co-founded Newlyn Fermentary in 2021.

Rachel’s love of sauerkraut began over a decade earlier in Berlin where she lived and worked – but from a tasty hot dog perspective rather than anything gut health related.

Then in 2020, a life changing lock down workshop and an overwhelming calling to nurture her family’s health, joined the dots and the Fermentary was born.

Rachel is most passionate about sharing her fermentation knowledge and she facilitates workshops and ferment related events all over Cornwall.

‘Sharing my passion for fermented foods, their associated health benefits and the fact that they are insanely easy to master, ignites the most spark for me’.
