Sauna Beyond Borders began as a seed of a dream.

Jenny Garland has a  longing to return to the Calais refugee camps, where  she and her husband Danny volunteered in the Refugee Community Kitchen (RCK)—but this time, to bring a sauna with them.
For the people living outside in tents in winter, life is a grim reality.

She started asking herself how could it be possible to make sauna accessible to all?

That question led her to discover there is a weekly mobile shower unit that travels to different spots, they could travel with it, offering sauna  alongside  hot showers, clean clothes and herbal remedies.

These simple things bring warmth, dignity and a moment of humanity to people who have been forced to live without them.

That is when she reached out to the Swedish sauna company BAST and Sebastian Sandlund introduced her to Mikkel Aaland the founder of Sauna Aid.

Through their conversation, she realised that sauna culture is so much more than a modern wellness trend. For centuries, saunas have been places of care, cleansing, healing, and community—And many cultures and religions have Sauna at the heart.

They encouraged her to go for it—they nurtured the spark and helped it grow into something real. BAST even sent her the first sauna beyond borders tent.

She aims to also run saunas for the amazing volunteers at RCK who are in a freezing cold warehouse prepping food daily.

Any support financially, or with time, any drivers, healers, herbalists, therapists, sauna aid workers who want to join the Convoy.
